Diving Conditions: Diving is possible year-round in Raja Ampat, with no distinct dry or rainy season. The months from June to October are generally windier, while occasional rain showers are part of island life and contribute to the lush tropical landscape. Visibility typically ranges from 15–30 meters. Summer often brings crystal-clear water, while winter visibility may decrease slightly due to plankton blooms. Divers welcome this, as plankton season usually coincides with manta season from October to April. During this time, manta rays are frequently seen feeding at the surface, and whale sharks and whales may occasionally appear. Water temperatures remain around 28–29°C year-round. A 3mm wetsuit is generally sufficient, although we recommend a full-length suit for protection from fire corals and other stinging marine life. Currents & Diving Style: Currents are a natural part of diving in Raja Ampat and can be strong. These currents bring nutrient-rich water to the reefs, supporting the incredible marine biodiversity the region is known for. Many dives are drift dives, and reef hooks are often used to safely enjoy the action. Hook in, relax, and watch sharks, manta rays, and large schools of fish pass by.
